Chem-E Projects

At UC Irvine, our AIChE student chapter is proud to take on the challenge of the Chem-E-Car Competition, where engineering meets real-world problem-solving. This annual competition pushes students to design, build, and optimize a car powered solely by a chemical energy source- tasked with traveling a precise distance and stopping safely. Through hands-on experimentation, collaboration, and application of principles learned in our coursework, our UCI team is refining technical skills and gaining national recognition at regional and final competitions.

 With sustainability, creativity, and precision driving our designs, UCI’s Chem-E-Car team exemplifies the next generation of engineers tackling complex challenges.  We invite students passionate about engineering, innovation, and teamwork to join us in building, testing, and competing with a car that runs primarily on chemical reactions!
