Divisions

The academic division of AIChE is dedicated to the academic development of all chemical engineering students. This includes fostering connections between students (undergraduate and graduate) and the faculty and staff in the CBE department and beyond. 

Some events that have been hosted by this division include Research Mixers and student panels about graduate school experience or research. 

Our industry division is focussed on the career development of chemical engineers by educating students about possible industry and career pathways and connecting students to industry representatives and possible job and internship opportunities.

Some events hosted by this division includes our annual research mixers, educational discussions on career readiness (resume workshops, LinkedIn help, and interview prep), panels about internship experience, and company info sessions. 

Our community outreach division is geared towards expanding education and access to chemical engineering to the greater Orange County community via outreach events to middle and high school students, community college students, and more. 

Our outreach program also works in partnership with the other engineering organizations on campus like SWE and NSBE to host large scale events like Ignite to outreach to middle and high school students. 

Started in Fall of 2024, the mentorship program at AIChE is open to all undergraduate students to get a chance to learn from one another and foster interdepartmental connections. For mentees the program is designed to acclimate them to UCI and the chemical engineering department by giving them direct connections to more experienced UCI students. For mentors this program gives them the chance to strengthen their leadership, communication, and education skills, as well as pass on any knowledge or tips to newer students. 

The programming for this program will vary throughout the year, but will generally include events to allow mentor-mentee groups to get together and forge connections. 

Our operations team works on the behind-the-scenes tasks to keep AIChE running. This includes everything from handling and organizing our financial dealings, maintaining contacts with faculty advisors and other faculty and staff contacts, keeping a log of our alumni and industry contacts, and maintaining the website. This team is dedicated to ensuring that AIChE is the best and most organized that it can be.
